Symptoms
Type 1 diabetes develops very quickly (weeks) and can be associated with the following symptoms.
Diabetes is a serious disease and may lead to severe complications if it is not diagnosed early and not properly treated. Both types of diabetes affect the eyes, kidneys, nerves and large blood vessels, and poor blood sugar control can result in loss of vision, amputation, kidney failure and heart attack (myocardial infarction).
These complications can be prevented or postponed with early diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
